THEMYSCIRA
Due to the pandemic, I took some of this time to experiment with what some of my dance concept ideas would look like if I didn't have access to in-person production. So I utilized a lot of virtual communication to source "back up dancers" and to provide conversational audio and solo filming choreography to flesh out a draft of this visual - Themyscira.
Themyscira is the name of a hypothetical festival or artist tour focused on an all female celebration. While I wanted to test creativity when limited to only communicating virtually, I also wanted to see how I would be able to string together three very different artists and moods of choreography into one festival. I imagined this to be a "preview" to what I would be able to capture in this made-up festival or maybe even a series or short documentary.
This was definitely a great test of my production skills and my choreography skills. Once the quarantine lightens up, I will definitely make this into a longer feature, but for now, please enjoy this draft!
The Draft.
Enjoy!

The Creative Process.
Creative Briefs and Coordinating Dancers
You can find the creative brief I used for this process, HERE!
I began by fleshing out my ideas and figuring out what sort of talent I needed to outsource. Since I couldn’t meet up and teach additional, I decided to have them film remotely and send footage separately. So I drafted a formal creative brief complete with wardrobe directions, filming directions, and concept details. I was able to source User Generated Content from no less than ten dancers!
Building Out Visuals, Audio, and Overarching Shot List
You can view the Shot List HERE!
From there, I created a complete shot list for my Video Editor as well as the producer building out custom audio for me. I was able to source audio by asking two of my friends to have a guided conversation about issues that Females face in society today. I only provided them with a few talking points, but was able to get a lot of great audio content to loop all of the choreography together and bring the all-female theme to life!
All coordination with the Videographer and Audio Tech was done virtually via email and messaging! And the audio source was done over a Zoom call!
Solo Filming and Timelines
From conception to finish, this projection was completed in about 10 days.
This included mapping out three shoot dates for myself to film choreography (choosing locations, wardrobe, aesthetic) having to coordinate a deadline for dancers to send in content, coordinating the audio source call, and still allowing enough time to have the audio produced and the video finally stitched together with a few revisions.
